The focus of our club’s work is the rights of women and children. Two internationally marked annual occasions are particularly pertinent to this work: International Women’s Day and the United Nations initiative 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence. The former is marked on March 8 while the latter runs from November 25 (International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) to December 10 (Human Rights Day).
For each of these occasions, our club had submited letters about these topics to the editor of our local newspaper, the Vernon Morning Star, in an effort to raise awareness. The articles below have been published in that paper.
